Some people are fortunate to have mentors in their lives, who helped shape who they have become and who supported them with their dreams.  Others are not that fortunate.

Having a connection with someone you trust, respect and whose input you value outside of your friends and family can be a valuable life strategy.  

Mentors are people who:

When setting up mentoring, we establish clear boundaries and rules about the relationship. Mentoring is not counselling or coaching, it is encouragement and support when needed. It is based on a high level of trust and respect. It encourages independence and interdependence, not dependency. 

It is often informal advice based on the mentors experience to someone less experienced. It is aimed at making the mentee more confident by having someone they trust to bounce things off.

Mentoring is about being a role model and leading by example. It is finding someone you connect with, who will empower you to make your own decisions.
